About Your Union Plus Prepaid Card
How does the Union Plus Prepaid Card work?
Your Union Plus Prepaid Card is a convenient way to manage your money and it's much safer than using cash. The Union Plus Prepaid Card is not a credit card, which means you can spend only the money you have in your available balance. Your prepaid card gives you the benefits of a bank account without the overdraft fees or hidden charges.
Step 1: Sign up for your Card
Click here to get your Union Plus Prepaid Card. Enrollment is quick and easy.
Step 2: Load your Card
To load your account you will need the 16 digit number that appears on your Virtual Card. This is available now by logging into your Account Center, where it is located under the "Manage Cards" section. Please note, you must click "order" and the Virtual Card image to view the full card number. You will need to load a minimum of $20.00 to your account. Alternative loading mechanisms:
- Pick up the Green Dot MoneyPak at tens of thousands of retail locations nationwide like Walgreens, Walmart, Kroger, and more. You can purchase a MoneyPak for $20 to $500, which you can then load onto your Union Plus Prepaid Card. You can also perform a Rapid Reload with your card at cash registers at participating Walmart stores.
- Direct Deposit service is the easiest and most convenient, free way to load your paycheck to your Union Plus Prepaid Card. To enroll in Direct Deposit, just log in to your Union Plus Prepaid Account, download the form and follow the easy instructions.
Step 3: Activate your Card
Your Union Plus Prepaid Card will arrive in the mail 7-10 days after you load a minimum of $20. To activate your card, just call the number on the card or visit this section of our Web site. Once you activate your Union Plus Prepaid Card, you can begin using it immediately.
Step 4: Use your Card
Once your money is deposited on your Union Plus Prepaid Card, you can make purchases at millions of locations worldwide - anywhere Visa and MasterCard debit cards are accepted - or get cash at most ATMs. You can also use your Union Plus Prepaid Card Account to send money with your mobile phone, using YAP. It's as easy as sending a text message.
Once I order my Union Plus Prepaid Card, how long does it take for me to get it?
Your permanent, personalized prepaid card will be mailed to you after loading a minimum of $20.00 to your account. You should receive it in 7-10 business days. (Weekends and holidays are not part of this time estimate.)
Once you receive your card, Activation is easy! Go online or call the number on the back of your card to activate. After activation, your card is immediately available for use.
I ordered my Union Plus Prepaid Card but have not received it in the mail.
If you have successfully loaded a minimum of $20.00 to your Union Plus Prepaid Card and have not received it in 10 business days (weekends and holidays not included in the time estimate), there might be an error in your mailing address. Please call us toll-free at 1-888-232-3260 so we can review your account, fix any incorrect information and get your Union Plus Prepaid Card to you right away.
How do I activate my Union Plus Prepaid Card?
Activation is easy! You can activate online or by phone. To activate online simply login with your username and password and click on the link that says "Activate your Card." If you have not created an online username and password, go to our homepage at MyUnionPrepaid.com and click on the button that says "Activate." If you want to activate by phone, just call us toll-free at 1-888-232-3260.
What if my card is lost or stolen?
Call 1-888-232-3260 immediately. We will cancel the lost or stolen card and issue you a new card right away. The Union Plus Prepaid Card offers the highest levels of security for your account, through PINs and a series of questions that only you know the answers to. When you receive your new prepaid card please remember to activate it and set your ATM PIN.

How much does it cost to activate a Union Plus Prepaid Card?
There is no fee to activate your Union Plus Prepaid Card.
Do I have to maintain a minimum balance on my prepaid card or savings account?
Unlike many traditional banks which require you keep a minimum amount of cash in your account to avoid additional fees, your Union Plus Prepaid Card does NOT.
Where can I use my Union Plus Prepaid Card?
You can use your Union Plus Prepaid Card at millions of locations worldwide, wherever Visa and MasterCard debit cards are accepted, at ATMs, on the Internet, and over the phone.
How much money can I load at one time?
To add cash to your card, you can add as little as $1 up to the balance limit on your card. Direct Deposit Service loads are accepted for any amount so long as that amount does not cause the overall Union Plus Prepaid Card balance to go over the maximum balance allowed, which may vary from card to card. For your specific maximum card balance, please call us toll-free at 1-888-232-3260. Please note, other restrictions may apply subject to the load provider (such as Green Dot MoneyPak, etc.)
When will my money be available once I load it?
Money is generally available the same day it is loaded onto your card. If you believe your funds have been delayed, call 1-888-232-3260.
Why do you need a physical mailing address and why can't you send my card to a P.O. Box?
For security reasons, a federal law requires us to collect a valid physical U.S. address.
Do I need to have a bank account to get a card?
No. You are approved for a Union Plus Prepaid Card as long as you successfully complete the identity validation process during registration and are over the age of 18.
Can I still get a Union Plus Prepaid Card even if I have bad credit or have bounced some checks in the past?
Yes! You are approved for a Union Plus Prepaid Card as long as you successfully complete the identity validation process during registration and are over 18 years old. We do not do credit checks.
Will the Union Plus Prepaid Card build my credit?
No. Currently this is not a credit building program.
How old do I have to be to get a Union Plus Prepaid Card?
You must be at least 18 years old to open a Union Plus Prepaid Card.
What is the difference between a "credit" and "debit" transaction?
When you make a purchase with your prepaid card, the merchant may ask, "Will this be credit or debit?" If you choose "credit," you will be required to sign a receipt to complete the transaction. If you choose "debit," you will need to enter your PIN number to complete the transaction. Both signature and PIN transactions pull money directly from the amount loaded on your Union Plus Prepaid Card.
How do I check my transaction history?
You can check your transactions on your mobile with YAP or by logging into your account here.
How do I change my account information?
You can change certain account information (such as your e-mail address and phone number) online through your Account Center.
What are the benefits of having a Union Plus Prepaid Card?
A prepaid card looks like a credit card and works similarly to a credit card, but only allows you to spend what you have in your available balance. Instead of carrying cash, you can load your money on your prepaid card and use it to shop anywhere Visa and MasterCard debit cards are accepted and at ATMs worldwide. Direct Deposit Service
What is Direct Deposit Service?
Signing up for Direct Deposit Service means that your employer will automatically send your paycheck to your prepaid card account. It's the most secure, convenient, fast and FREE way to load your funds.
How quickly are the funds from my paycheck available with Direct Deposit Service?
Your funds will be available immediately. Direct Deposit Service is the most convenient, secure way to load your paycheck and it's absolutely free.
What do I need to do to set up Direct Deposit Service?
To enroll in Direct Deposit Service, just log in to your online account, download the form and follow the easy instructions. (You can also use the form that came with your Union Plus Prepaid Card.) You will typically provide the completed Direct Deposit Service form to your employer's payroll or human resources department, and they will return it to us. Then, we will be able to begin depositing all or a portion of your paycheck onto your Union Plus Prepaid Card.
What happens to my Direct Deposit Service if I change jobs?
If you change jobs, the payments from your previous job will stop automatically. To start Direct Deposit Service with your new employer, simply fill out another Direct Deposit Service form, sign it and provide it to your new employer. They will send it to us so we can begin depositing your paycheck directly onto your Union Plus Prepaid Card.
Using an ATM
I see that I need to set an ATM PIN (Personal Identification Number) to withdraw cash with my Union Plus Prepaid Card. How can I get an ATM PIN?
You will set up your PIN when you call 1-888-232-3260 to activate your permanent card. Once you set your PIN, you can change it at any time by calling 1-888-232-3260.
What if I forget my ATM PIN?
Call 1-888-232-3260 to speak to a customer service agent, who will ask you a series of security questions before walking you through the secure process of resetting your ATM PIN.
Do I need my ATM PIN to withdraw funds from the ATM?
Yes. When you use your prepaid card to withdraw money from an ATM, you will insert your card, enter your four-digit ATM PIN, and select "Withdrawal." You will then be asked if you are withdrawing the money from "Checking," "Savings," or "Credit." You should choose "Checking."
How much cash can I withdraw at an ATM?
You may withdraw up to $600 per 24-hour period with your Union Plus Prepaid Card. Keep in mind that your limits may vary depending on your transaction history.

Can I check my balance at any ATM?
Yes, and you will be charged a fee of 50 cents. You can also check your prepaid and savings account balance with YAP and your mobile phone by texting the word BAL to 88988. There is no fee to do so. (Your mobile carrier's standard messaging charges apply.) You can also log in to your Account Center to get your balance at no charge.
Using Your Union Plus Prepaid Card
What is the maximum amount of money I can have on my card at one time?
The maximum balance for your Union Plus Prepaid Card Account is $10,000. Please note that this limit assumes that we have placed no restrictions on your card.
Is each transaction processed immediately?
Yes. Once you use your card, the funds will be deducted immediately. Please note that some gas stations may "hold" a set amount and some restaurants may authorize 20% above your total bill to leave room for tip. Any unused funds from these authorization holds will be placed back into your account once the final amount is authorized.
Can I use my prepaid card at a gas station to "pay at the pump"?
Yes. You must press "debit" at the gas pump to access your funds. If you press "credit" you will not be able to "pay at the pump." Please note that gas stations often hold $50.00 to $75.00 for these transactions. The unused funds are placed back into your account once the merchant settles the payment.
Can I use my prepaid card to shop online?
Yes. You can use your card anywhere Visa and MasterCard debit cards are accepted worldwide.

What is YAP?
YAP is a safe, fast and easy way to send money using your mobile phone. Now you can send money whenever you want, from wherever you are. Learn more about YAP
How do I register for YAP?
You can register for YAP when you set up your online account. All you need is a working mobile phone from one of the mobile carriers that support YAP. If you did not enroll in YAP when you set up your online account, you can do so by clicking on the YAP link on your online Account Center when you login .
Do I need to have a Union Plus Prepaid Card to send money with YAP?
Yes. When you enroll your Union Plus Prepaid Card in YAP, money is pulled from your Union Plus Prepaid Card every time you send money using your mobile phone.
I received money with YAP. How do I get my money?
When you enroll in a Union Plus Prepaid Card and register your mobile number with YAP, the money you receive is automatically deposited into your card account. If you have not received your permanent card, you can use your virtual card to access your money. Once you receive your card in the mail there are three easy ways to access your money:
- Use your card to shop.
- Use your mobile phone to send money to someone else through YAP.
- Get cash by using your personalized card at an ATM
Can I receive money from someone who is not registered with YAP?
No. Only YAP registered users can send money.
How fast does money travel when I send it through YAP?
Sending money with YAP is instantaneous. When you send money to another Union Plus Prepaid Cardholder, it goes into their account as soon as they receive your text message and accept the funds.
What happens if I try to send more money than I have in my card account?
Don't worry, if this happens the money will not be sent. YAP will immediately send you a message saying that you don't have enough funds in your card account to complete the transaction.
What is the maximum amount of money that I can send through YAP?
To protect your account, there are limits to how much money you can send with your mobile phone. But don't worry: if you reach those limits, we'll let you know.
Safety and YAP PIN
How safe is YAP?
YAP is safer than carrying cash:
- With YAP, you can make payments without having to carry cash. YAP also offers you a guarantee that protects you against fraud. If your phone is ever lost or stolen, just call us within 24 hours at 1-888-232-3260.
- Every time you send or receive money through YAP, we will ask you for your five-digit YAP PIN to make sure your account is safe and protected. YAP will also never ask you to send personal information through your mobile phone.
- YAP invests in your safety. We use the same technologies to protect your money and personal information as major banks.
- YAP employs a team of experts whose job is preventing fraud and protecting your money.
- You can temporarily disable the YAP functions within your phone by "freezing" YAP. There is no cost to do so. Freezing YAP does NOT freeze your prepaid card, it only temporarily disables the YAP functions on your mobile phone.
What should I do if my mobile phone is lost or stolen?
Don't worry. Just call us immediately toll-free at 1-888-232-3260 and tell the customer service agent that you want to freeze the YAP functions in your phone because it was lost or stolen. Then ask for your last transaction to verify whether it was one that you made. You can have peace of mind that if your phone is lost or stolen, we will take care of any fraudulent charges that may have occurred on your account up to 24 hours prior to your call. If you wait more than 24 hours to call us after your phone is lost or stolen, you may be liable for a portion of any fraudulent charges that occurred, in accordance with applicable law.
If my phone is stolen, can someone else obtain my YAP PIN?
If your phone is lost or stolen, YAP offers you a guarantee that any unauthorized expenses will be covered as long as you report your phone's loss or theft within 24 hours of the time it happened. To further protect you from the risk of someone obtaining your YAP PIN, we ask that you erase your message to YAP after each completed transaction.
What is my YAP PIN?
Your YAP PIN is your mobile "Personal Identification Number" - the five-digit security code you use to make transactions with your mobile phone.
How can I change my YAP PIN?
To reset your YAP PIN online, login and visit your Account Profile. If you are already logged in, click here.
Why do I have two PINS - a YAP PIN and an ATM PIN?
Your YAP PIN is a five-digit number that you use to send money with your mobile phone.
Your ATM PIN is a four-digit number that you use to get cash at an ATM. You set your ATM PIN when you activate your prepaid card.
What should I do if, while I'm making a YAP transaction on my mobile phone, the phone battery dies, the signal fades or I run out of airtime?
Don't worry. When your phone is working again, follow the steps to obtain your last YAP transaction (send a message to 88988 that says "last"). YAP will send you a record of your last YAP transaction, so you can see if the transaction you were making when your phone had a problem was completed.
YAP gives you a 12-hour time limit to confirm each transaction. If you exceeded that time period and your transaction wasn't completed, simply start again.
How do I get my money back if I accidentally send it to an incorrect number?
Don't worry. Simply call our toll-free number, 1-888-232-3260, to speak with a customer service agent and explain what happened. We're here to help you.
Can I make a YAP transaction from any mobile phone or only with the phone I registered?
For your safety, the YAP functions are linked exclusively to the mobile phone you registered with us. You cannot use a mobile phone to make YAP transactions without registering it with YAP first.
What should I do if I change my mobile phone number?
Please let us know as soon as you change your number. For your security, and so you can continue using YAP, it's important that we deactivate your previous number and activate the new one.
To update your phone number with YAP, just visit us online at www.MyUnionPrepaid.com and follow these easy steps:
- Login with your username and password.
- Answer the security question.
- Click on "Settings."
- Click on "Change mobile number."
YAP asked me to erase my outgoing message after a transaction. How do I do this?
Each phone is different. You can call your mobile phone provider's customer service hotline or visit the closest store that sells phones and ask for help.
What should I do if I didn't receive a confirmation message after sending money with YAP?
YAP always sends you a confirmation message when you successfully send money. Sometimes you may experience a delay in your mobile phone carrier delivering a YAP text message to you.
What is the savings account?
It is an account separate from your prepaid card account that allows you to save money and earn interest every month.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to open a savings account and no fees to maintain it.

What do I need to open a savings account?
To open a savings account you need:
- All your personal information up-to-date on your acount. (just log in to www.MyUnionPrepaid.com to check your settings). If you need to update your address, please call Customer Service at 1-888-232-3260.
- Your prepaid card account needs to be in good standing and needs to have money left in it after you make your first savings deposit. (The minimum amount required to open a savings account is just $1.)
- If we have ever requested additional identification documents from you, you need to submit them before opening a savings account.
What does APY mean?
APY means Annual Percentage Yield, and it is the effective annual rate of return (taking into account the effect of compounding interest).

How can I add money to my savings account?
You can do it two ways: on the Web or with YAP on your mobile phone.
On the Web:
- Login at www.MyUnionPrepaid.com.
- Once you are logged in, click on the "Transfer" link at the top of the page.
- Select the option that says "Prepaid Card to Savings."
Transfer money with YAP and your mobile phone:
- Send a text message to 88988 with the word SAVE (a space) and the amount you want to add to your savings account. (Example: SAVE 100) This example adds $100 to your savings account.
- Reply to the message YAP sends you with your 5-digit YAP PIN (this is different than your ATM PIN).
- Receive a text message with confirmation of your transfer.
How can I withdraw money from my savings account?
- To withdraw money, you need to login to www.MyUnionPrepaid.com.
- Once you login, click on the "Transfer" link at the top of the page.
- Select the option that says "Savings to Prepaid Card."
How can I check my savings account balance?
On the web: Login to www.MyUnionPrepaid.com and you'll have your balance on the overview page.
With YAP on your mobile phone: Just send a text message to 88988 with the word BAL and you will get your prepaid card account balance and your savings account balance.
How many withdrawals can I make in a month?
You can make a maximum of 6 transfers from your savings account to your prepaid card in a calendar month. (For example, if you make 6 transfers out of your savings from July 1st to July 18th, you'll need to wait until August 1st to make your next outgoing transfer.)
How do I close a savings account?
To close a savings account, contact Customer Service at 1-888-232-3260. Please note that if you close your savings account, you can't open another one within 30 days. When you close your savings account, all the funds in it will be transferred to your prepaid card account, unless that transfer would cause your prepaid card account to exceed the maximum balance limit (normally $10,000).
